Seat, Škoda and VW: Electric trio at the start
Affordable electromobility is gaining momentum in Switzerland. Three almost identical models will be rolling into the garages of Seat, Škoda and Volkswagen in the next few weeks with interesting prices. Seat Mii electric, Škoda Citigoe iV and Volkswagen e-Up have a technical basis. They are wheeled on the same platform from the parent company Volkswagen. If you look closely, differences can be seen at the front and rear. Inside, the three have been adapted to the design language of their brand.
First driving impression with the Spaniard
AutoSprintCH took the Seat on a city tour as a representative of the trio. For good reason, it was not possible to prove how bravely the little Spaniard holds its own on highways, because that is not its territory.
It is built for the brisk ride from home to office and for shopping trips or excursions with a small cast. No more and no less.
Total power immediately at the start
Let's go. Entering through the wide door is comfortable. After turning the start key, nothing happens at first. Big mistake: The little one waits for you to press the right pedal. A quick tap and the car starts moving.
Kicked hard, the entire power of the 61 kW engine (equivalent to 83 hp) is activated. When green, the Spaniard always has the stubby hood very far forward.
Acceleration perfect for the city
As is typical for purely electrically driven cars, there is only forward or reverse. And the position P. There is no gearshifting. The full power of the drive is available immediately.
Combined with the agility, it becomes clear that the trio belongs in the seething traffic of a city. It's a matter of being fast (0 to 100 in 12.3 seconds!), taking advantage of the next gap, and then moving on swiftly.
Operating costs save budgets
Anyone who has power outlets both in the garage at home and in the parking garage just around the corner from the office will quickly come to appreciate their little Stromer, and not just because of the low operating costs. That leaves the answer to the question: "Which of these Minis suits whom?"
They are all the same size, and so is their range: around 260 kilometers. Let's try the price: The Seat is available from 19,850 francs, the Škoda from 19,990 francs and the VW from 23,000 francs.
Make sure to compare equipment There are differences, especially in terms of equipment and colors. If you want to be as environmentally conscious on the road, you have no choice but to compare the positions. A garage owner will certainly be happy to help you with this.
