In the Sprint to the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge as well as in the Endurance race, Ernst Keller started from pole position and both times Jean Paul von Burg immediately snatched the lead from him. On the last lap, however, Keller managed to pull past the champion. "Unfortunately, my tires were not as good as Ernst's at the end, which meant I had no chance against him on the last lap. It's a shame, but it was an exciting race," Von Burg admitted.
Pit stop strategy like in Formula 1
The endurance race presented a similar picture between the two fastest Porsche 991 GT3 Cup cars. Initially, Von Burg led ahead of Keller, whose tires initially did not offer very good grip. Keller's team therefore opted for an early pit stop, which subsequently gave the driver a lap with little traffic. When Von Burg came out of the pits, Keller had passed - Formula 1, where such tactical overtaking maneuvers are common, sends its regards. The defending champion fought his way back to Keller but was beaten by half a car length in the photo finish. Rémi Terail finished third ahead of Patrick Schmalz.
Victory for Peter Meister in the Driver's Challenge
In the Porsche Sports Cup, the fastest of the twelve drivers set the pace with their new Cayman GT4 Clubsport. Stefan Kerkenmeier celebrated a start-finish victory in the Sprint ahead of Heinz Bruder and Patrick Meystre. In the Endurance race, Bruder competed with Austrian professional Martin Ragginger as his partner and against this, the opponents had no chance. Andrea Frigerio/Sam Power and Pascal Delafontaine/Richard Feller took the places of honor with their Cayman GT4s. Victory in the Porsche Driver's Challenge went to Peter Meister, who drove the least deviations from the reference lap in his 991 GT3 RS and thus collected the fewest penalty points.
