New WRT duo in the 2020 DTM with an Audi RS5: Ed Jones and Fabio Scherer.

Nico Müller will no longer be the only Swiss DTM driver next year. The W Racing Team from Belgium (WRT), a new Audi customer in 2019, will continue to field two RS5 DTM cars in a new lineup. One car will be entrusted to Lucerne native Fabio Scherer, who was born and lives in Engelberg, and the other to Dubai-born Briton Ed Jones.

Team successful for ten years
The classifications of Jonathan Aberdein in the past season proved that the private cars under the management of Belgian Vincent Vosse, who founded the team in 2009, can keep up. The South African took fourth places at Assen and the Nürburgring and finished the championship in tenth position. Less successful was Pietro Fittipaldi, who only made it into the top ten six times. Highlights of WRT's team history include various victories and championship titles in GT3 and TCR.

Disappointing Formula 3 season
Fabio Scherer moved into Formula 3 via karting and Formula 4, but the 20-year-old failed to get off the ground this year in the Sauber Junior Team, which is run by Charouz Racing from the Czech Republic. A seventh and eighth place in Monza remained his best results. Formula racing is now history for him at the moment.

Fabio Scherer: "I'm glad that I can now put this year behind me and look ahead. I'm delighted to have found a place in the DTM with WRT. It's a dream come true for me, there's nothing greater for me. I thank everyone who believes in me and makes this possible for me."

Start with test drives
Fabio Scherer will make his first appearance these days at the official DTM test drives in Jerez de la Frontera.

Being a Sauber junior in Formula 3 did nothing for Fabio Scherer in terms of results in 2019. Now he wants to show in the DTM car that he has been beaten below value.
