Seat: The Mii electric is a city runabout 🎥
IT'S BEEN TIME Electric mobility has been very expensive up to now. The Seat Mii electric is designed to make it affordable. The 3.56-meter short subcompact starts at an entry-level price of just 19,850 francs. The Seat Mii electric has the same technology as the Skoda Citigo e iV and the VW e-Up. Seat's first purely electric car is set to enrich major cities from the beginning of 2020, and the model uses the same technology as its group brothers Skoda Citigo e iV and VW e-Up. Within the small e-trio, however, the Spaniard is the most affordable offering.
Automatic transmission with one gear
Under the short hood is an electric motor with an output of 83 hp (61 kW), which transmits its power to the front wheels via a single-speed automatic transmission. The lithium-ion batteries are located in the floor of the car and have been cleverly distributed so that this does not create any restrictions in the interior.
The video shows in detail how the technology in the Seat Mii electric works while driving.
Range up to 259 kilometers
The luggage compartment volume has not changed either. The trunk can still hold 251 liters. When the rear seat backrests are folded forward, 923 liters are available.
According to the factory, the range is up to 259 kilometers. Here, the Mii electric consumes an average of 14.4 kWh of electricity. Incidentally, the electric variant is now Seat's only Mini, as production of the gasoline-engine versions has been discontinued.
Electric board as cockpit panel
With its classic radiator grille, the alternative Spaniard is not immediately recognizable as an electric car. The visual changes with their "electric" lettering on the doors and tailgate are only marginal. The interior, on the other hand, has been upgraded with a newly designed cockpit panel in the look of an electric circuit board and ambient lighting.
Driving data via smartphone app
The user's own smartphone will have to suffice for navigation. Nevertheless, the cell phone is perfectly integrated into the system and works purposefully in its non-slip holder on the dashboard.
In addition, a smartphone app can be used to call up numerous driving data or control the air conditioning to cool or warm up the Mii remotely.
Torque is ready immediately
The Mii electric drives just as easily as a conventional vehicle with automatic transmission. Simply move the selector lever to position D, apply power with the right pedal, and the compact car rolls off with a quiet whir. And it does so quickly, since the torque of 212 Newton meters is available from the first revolution of the electric motor.
It takes just 3.9 seconds to reach 50 km/h and 12.3 seconds for the Mii electric to reach highway speed. However, the top speed is limited to 130 km/h in favor of the range.
Variable degree of recuperation
With its maximum operating range, the Seat proves to be suitable for everyday use. Of course, an overly brisk driving style causes the range to melt away. That's why the driver can change the recuperation level fourfold via the gearshift lever. Further energy is saved as soon as the Eco button on the center console is pressed.
Fast charge in one hour
By the way, recharging the 32.3 kWh batteries is fastest at a DC fast charging station with 40 kW. The storage depot is then filled to 80 percent within just one hour. It takes 13 to 16 hours to recharge the batteries at a household outlet with a ten-amp fuse.
