The Initiale Paris variant of the new Clio is particularly elegantly equipped.
The new Clio is an important pillar in the implementation of the Renault Group's "Drive The Future 2017 to 2022" strategic plan, which was adopted in fall 2017. The new model plays a pioneering role here, as it is intended to make driver assistance systems, which form the basis for automated driving, accessible.
Hybrid version planned for 2020
The Clio also offers a complete range of engines with new petrol and diesel engines in the 75 to 130 hp power range. All engines comply with the latest fuel consumption and emission standards.
In addition - for the first time in the Renault Group - a hybrid engine will be added to the range from 2020 under the name E-Tech.
Striking design accents
Even if it is not immediately obvious, Clio number five has been completely redesigned. This includes sharpened body lines all round. The restyled front section sets striking accents. Renault has also come up with some ideas for the design of the cockpit.
Unlike the old Clio, the center console is more towards the driver. This creates safety.
Of course, the multimedia also integrates smartphones into the system via Android Auto or Apple Carplay. Below the monitor is a row of buttons for additional operating functions, with three rotary controls for the heating and air conditioning located directly below. Everything can be operated easily and intuitively right from the start.
Driving pleasure with three cylinders
The three-cylinder petrol engine with 100 hp driven by AutoSprintCH is a new development and highly recommended. It draws its power from a displacement of one liter, but thanks to turbocharging, it responds to throttle commands spontaneously and revs easily. It runs quietly and extremely smoothly even at high revs.
Autonomous driving up to level 2
Safety on board is ensured by a range of assistants. Adaptive cruise control is a new feature for the segment, which, together with the lane departure warning system, allows the Clio to drive semi-autonomously on the highway up to level two. However, if there is a traffic jam with stop-and-go traffic, the car automatically brakes to a standstill and then starts up again just as automatically. This is easy on the nerves and shows what the future of the car should look like.
Prices start at 14,900 francs (Life, 75 hp).
