WHO BIDS MORE? At their last auction for 2019 in the sheikdom of Abu Dhabi, the auctioneers from Sotheby's will really let it rip on November 30. The venue is the Yas Marina Circuit. The front-runner of the offer is likely to be a Ferrari FXX K from 2015, a model that is being offered for the first time at a public auction. With 1050 hp, it is considered the brand's most powerful production model and has only been driven 250 kilometers by its owner. Sotheby's estimates its value at at least four to four and a half million dollars.
Only 32 copies of the Ferrari FXX K
In the naming, the letter K for Kinetic Energy Recovery System was added after the designation of the predecessor model FXX. The brake energy recovery system, familiar from Formula 1, converts electrical energy into additional power for an electric motor at the push of a button, supplementing the power of the 6.3-liter V8 gasoline engine. The number of units of the bolide was limited to 32.
Seven models from Maranello
A total of seven models from Maranello are on offer, plus two Formula 1 cars. One, a Ferrari 2002, with which Michael Schumacher secured his fifth world championship title at the French Grand Prix 17 years ago, is estimated at up to $7.5 million.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the F2002 will benefit the Keep Fighting Foundation, a global initiative launched by Schumacher's family to continue his charitable work. The foundation's goals include promoting culture, education, science and public health.
Proceeds of approximately $50 million
More than 40 exceptionally rare and therefore expensive sports cars are to go under the hammer, half of them with an estimated value of well over a million dollars. All in all, Sotheby's in Abu Dhabi could ring up around 50 million dollars - if everything goes according to plan.
