Mercedes-AMG: GT R reminiscent of Panamericana
A premiere of the extraordinary kind: Mercedes-AMG has never integrated so much motorsport technology into a production vehicle as in the new AMG GT R. The front mid-engine concept with transaxle, the 585 hp V8 biturbo engine, the modified chassis, aerodynamics and lightweight construction form the basis for an extremely dynamic driving experience. The third member of the GT family marks the new spearhead at AMG. The AMG GT R was designed specifically for use on the racetrack with pioneering technologies. The development incorporates the experience gained from motorsport operations in AMG GT3 customer racing and the German Touring Car Masters. Values such as 3.6 seconds for the sprint from zero to 100 km/h and a top speed of 318 km/h combine to promise extremely fast laps on the race track.
Panamericana Grill generates additional attention
Even the new exclusive color "AMG green hell magno" makes a visual reference to the "Green Hell" and thus points to the vehicle's lineage. Aerodynamicists and designers have collaborated even more intensively in the development of the new AMG GT R. The AMG design language forms the basis for the significantly more expressive overall appearance and the independent look. Alongside the powerfully sculpted body and motorsport elements, the new AMG Panamericana grille generates additional attention. This unique feature also originates from motorsport and is used in the AMG GT R for the first time in a road vehicle. The basic shape of the new radiator grille goes back to the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL racing car that won the legendary Panamericana road race in Mexico in 1952.
