Los Angeles 2019: Strong, the Space Vizzion
FUTURE With the Space Vizzion estate, Volkswagen is presenting the seventh study of its electric car family at the Los Angeles Auto Show (until December 1). The model will go into series production in 2021 as an electric Passat counterpart. The vehicle with a range of up to 590 kilometers has a 279 hp (205 kW) electric motor on the rear axle and an additional 102 hp (55 kW) electric drive on the front axle.
They complement each other to produce a system output of 340 hp (250 kW) and all-wheel drive. The battery has a gross capacity of 82 kWh and should be charged to 80 percent within half an hour at a 150 kW DC charging station.
From zero to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds
In addition to the estate, there will also be a saloon. The ID Space Vizzion rolls on 22-inch wheels, is almost five meters long and has a drag coefficient of 0.24.
The vehicle should sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. The top speed is regulated at 175 km/h. The concept car is designed as a four-seater, but three seats in the rear are also conceivable.
Head-up display with augmented reality
The digital door handles of the ID Space Vizzion are touch surfaces that are seamlessly integrated into the bodywork. A head-up display with augmented reality replaces the classic cockpit.
The gearshift no longer exists either. It has been replaced by a stick lever on the steering wheel. The air conditioning, infotainment and online functions are operated via a free-standing 16-inch touchscreen.
Interior cladding made from apple juice
The seats, the interior trim and the dashboard are made of the leather-like Apple Skin cover. It consists partly of a proportion of waste materials from apple juice production. They are transformed into a new raw material that replaces 20 percent of the polyurethane that was previously used exclusively.
