CARLABELLE gathered its first driving impressions of the new DS 7 during trips to France.
The DS 7 Crossback E-Tense 4×4 combines two electric motors and an internal combustion engine to create an all-wheel drive with a system output of 300 hp. It is said to be satisfied with 1.4 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers.
Stylish elegant appearance
There are hardly any differences between the two DS 7 variants, either on the outside or in the interior design. Both have the same stylishly elegant appearance and show an attention to detail. The angular design, which can also be seen in the DS Automobiles emblem, is always found in the vehicle.
Damping swallows bumps
While the DS 7 gasoline engine, which President Frédéric Macron drives as his official car, has an eight-speed automatic with 225 hp, the plug-in hybrid has 300 hp, which is split between 200 hp by the combustion engine and the rest in electric power.
In Sport mode, the plug-in hybrid only has 200 hp, while the pure combustion engine has 225 horsepower. But that's as far as the noticeable differences between the vehicles go. Both have active damper recognition, which means that bumps are detected early and driving feels like floating on clouds.
More range through recuperation
If you have a 7.4-kilowatt wallbox at home, you can fully charge the 13 kWh battery within one hour and 45 minutes. At a household outlet protected with eight amps, the charging process takes eight hours.
While driving, the DS 7 Crossback E-Tense 4×4 offers a recuperation system that further extends the range. The purely electric range is 58 kilometers.
Charging stations from the manufacturer
DS Automobiles will continue to offer charging stations for sale in the future and work with partners who will install them correctly and, above all, safely. So, it is only a question of financial possibilities whether you buy the DS 7 4×4 Crossback E-Tense. Compared to the gasoline-powered model (starting at 39,050 francs), the plug-in hybrid starts at 58,550 francs.
