Mercedes: New service product for greater efficiency

The focus of Mercedes-Trucks is on economy and reliability as well as on the partnership with customers. Through connectivity and the intelligent networking of the trucks, these attributes of cooperation are now being raised to a new level, as will be on display at the IAA in Hanover from September 22 to 29. Active Brake Assist 4: The system warns the driver of a collision with pedestrians or cyclists and automatically initiates partial braking at the same time.

Reliability is extremely important for every fleet manager. His biggest dream is probably that the truck is always ready for use, i.e. without breakdowns and other unexpected visits to the workshop. With the new Mercedes-Benz Uptime service product, Mercedes-Benz is making great strides towards this dream: Thanks to connectivity, the truck is connected with customers and Mercedes-Benz Service. Fully automatic diagnostics during operation continuously check the status of the vehicle systems in real time. By detecting critical conditions at an early stage, the vehicle can be serviced and repaired preventively.

New Active Brake Assist 4 creates more safety
Maximum safety is a fundamental value for the big stars. Most of the safety systems available in today's trucks made their debut in a vehicle from Stuttgart. These range from the ABS anti-lock braking system to Active Brake Assist, the emergency brake assistant. While safety systems were previously primarily used to prevent serious accidents on freeways and trunk roads, Mercedes is now opening up a new chapter with the fourth-generation Active Brake Assist and Turn Assist - both with person detection.

The current Active Brake Assist 3 can already do more than the EU will require in a second, more stringent stage from November 2018. The new Active Brake Assist 4 with pedestrian detection is another milestone in the development of active safety technologies. It is the first system of its kind in the world to warn the driver of a collision with pedestrians or cyclists and automatically initiates partial braking at the same time.
