Design and the joy of driving are the MX-30 in the foreground. The car should simply be fun.

Requirements of a second car
For the European market, the MX-30 will be equipped with a 106 kW (140 hp) electric motor. The battery offers a capacity of 35.5 kWh and is said to be good for a range of 200 kilometers.

Yasuhiro Aoyama, President and CEO of Mazda Motor Europe: "In addition to the electrification technologies we will introduce across our portfolio, as a smaller manufacturer we have focused on developing an electric car that perfectly meets the requirements of a second car. With an average daily mileage of 48 kilometers in Europe, the MX-30 is the optimal vehicle for everyday driving."

MX-30
Instead of all-wheel drive, the MX-30 is front-wheel drive and 140 hp has to suffice.

Natural and direct driving feel
Above all, the MX-30 focuses on design and driving fun. Mazda promises a natural and direct driving feel.

The underfloor-mounted battery, for example, is directly connected to the body structure, which is intended to increase overall rigidity and ensure direct handling. In addition, the familiar G-Vectoring Control (GVC) driving dynamics system has been adapted to take advantage of an electric motor. Mazda now calls the whole thing e-GVC Plus.

When it comes to sound, the Japanese rely on an electronic sound system in the interior, which is supposed to synchronize the engine torque with sound frequency and sound pressure

Pre-orders for Switzerland
For Switzerland, Mazda is targeting a price of 36,990 Swiss francs for the "First Edition", which will be launched in the second half of 2020. Pre-orders are now being accepted. A down payment of 1000 francs is required, which will be charged upon delivery.

Not bad: The first 100 customers get a free charging station (wallbox) from approved suppliers when they buy an MX-30. That makes sense.
