With the M8 Coupé and Convertible models, BMW is raising the 8 Series to a significantly higher sporting level. While the V8 engine of the new M duo delivers 600 hp, the M Competition versions even produce 625 hp.
Right from the start, the body structure, drive technology and chassis were trimmed for optimum driving dynamics. The development was carried out together with the M8 GTE endurance racing car.
Perfect for the racetrack or winter sports
Equipped with all-wheel drive, the two high-performance vehicles are not only ideal for a trip to the racetrack, but also for winter sports. A low center of gravity and balanced axle load distribution, together with numerous driving programs, ensure driving pleasure.
The 4.4-liter biturbo engine naturally takes center stage. On some fast circuit laps, the Coupé M8 Competition with its 625 hp demonstrated great temperament despite weighing around two tons.

Automatic transmission and all-wheel drive
The turbocharged V8 engine delivers a constant torque of 750 Nm between 1800 and 5800 rpm - so it never lacks pulling power. In conjunction with the 8-speed automatic transmission and the M x-Drive variable all-wheel drive, the result is largely neutral handling with very good traction.
In addition to the 4WD and 4WD Sport driving modes, pure rear-wheel drive is also possible - with the stability control deactivated - although this is only recommended on a closed track.
Maximum speed at 305 km/h
The Coupé M8 Competition accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in 10.6 seconds. Equipped with the Driver's Package, the car reaches a maximum speed of 305 km/h. M8 models will be available from November at prices starting at 202,000 Swiss francs.

Body variant of the 8 Series
BMW is launching the four-door, four-seater Gran Coupé, which is over five meters long, as the third body variant of the 8 Series. As a direct derivative of the two-door model, the Gran Coupé is 231 millimetres longer and 61 millimetres higher than the Coupé and Convertible and is intended to offer the same level of driving dynamics. The panoramic glass roof and the M Sport, M Technik Sport and Chrome Line packages set visual accents.
Gran Coupé as M Competition version
The 3-liter petrol and diesel engines and the 4.4-liter V8 petrol engine produce between 320 and 530 hp. In Switzerland, customers can choose between the 840d, 840i and M850i. The x-Drive all-wheel drive is standard, with prices ranging from 121,400 to 156,900 Swiss francs.
As with the Coupé and Convertible, the M and M Competition versions of the Gran Coupé will soon be available.
