This weekend (September 27-29) starts the first edition of the competition. As with the traditional event of classic models, the start will be in Brescia. Among them will be the VW e-Up, recently presented at the IAA in Frankfurt, and two electrified e-Beetles.
About 250 kilometers total distance
In the "Mille Miglia Green" cars are admitted in different categories: Pure electric cars (fuel cell and EV/BEV), hybrid vehicles (PHEV, Full/Mild Hybrid) and either electric classic cars or classic cars converted to electric drive up to year of construction 1990.
Around 250 kilometers of total distance are on the agenda for the participants of the Mille Miglia Green over three days. The first stage begins on Friday evening in Brescia. On Saturday, the tour continues in the direction of Milan. The third and final stage will take the participants to Lainate on Sunday.
Electric Beetle achieves 150 km/h top speed
On the daily stages of a maximum of 180 kilometers, the electric vehicles have to prove their full operational capability. The e-Up has a range of up to 260 kilometers and produces 83 hp. With 40 kilowatts of DC charging power, 60 minutes are enough to recharge the batteries to 80 percent.
Just like the e-Up, the e-Bugs have an electric drive with a single-speed transmission and a battery system based on the e-Up. Despite its new total weight of 1280 kilograms, the electrified Beetle accelerates to 100 km/h in just over ten seconds. The vehicle reaches a top speed of 150 km/h.
