Grosjean: A fifth season with HaasF1

THE GENEVA MAY STAY Romain Grosjean is staying in Formula 1. The Frenchman from Geneva has been confirmed by the HaasF1 team for the 2020 world championship season. Romain Grosjean will tackle his eleventh GP season in 2020. So far, the current season has not brought the desired and expected results, which is not only due to the drivers, but also to the technology.

It was not necessarily to be expected after the modest performances of the two HaasF1 drivers this season. But in the run-up to the Singapore GP this weekend, the American Ferrari customer team announced the contract extension with Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen.

World Cup fifth in 2018
With the exception of a few years (2003 as Swiss Formula Lista champion and 2010 with Matech in the FIA GT1), the Geneva native has always raced with a French license and has been part of the HaasF1 team since joining in 2016, with the Dane becoming his teammate a year later. Together, they have collected 166 championship points to date. HaasF1 finished the 2018 Constructors' Championship in fifth place with 93 points. The Americans with Italian drive technology are a long way off their best season to date this year. With seven races to go, they have just 26 points to their name, and the last time both drivers scored equal points was in Hockenheim in July.

What's missing is the first GP win
This will be the 33-year-old French-Swiss driver's tenth season in the premier class. Romain Grosjean has finished ten of the 157 Grands Prix on the podium, all with Lotus. He finished second in both 2012 and 2013.

Their best result with HaasF1 was fourth place at the 2018 Austrian GP. Team Principal Günther Steiner justifies the contract extension primarily with the experience of the two drivers and the continuity that will take them forward in 2020.
