Porsche: The Taycan is also called Turbo 🎥

UNDER TENSION Ever since Porsche began developing the all-electric Taycan, experts and potential customers have been talking about it, imagining what it would look like and speculating about its specifications. Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo are the names of the first models in the new series.

To make a long story short. It's a Porsche. The intention was to develop timeless design beautifully and emotionally and, of course, sustainably, explained Porsche's CEO Oliver Blume at the world premiere today in Berlin, which was held simultaneously at Niagara Falls and the Pingtan wind farm in China at 3 p.m. local time Berlin time.
The details of the zero CO2 emissions car were revealed bit by bit, emotionally accompanied by a light show of the three energy-giving forces of nature: sun, wind and water.

Taycan
With its clear, purist design, the Taycan signals that a new era has begun.

Presentation in the digital age
When the Porsche Taycan Turbo and the Porsche Taycan Turbo S (they no longer have a turbo engine in that sense, they're just called that, force of habit) finally rolled onto the stage, it was clear that we had arrived in the digital age. Nobody clapped or cheered the snow-white models, everybody pulled out their digital devices and filmed. So quiet, so beautiful.

Very much car around you
Just this much can be said before the first test drive, which will take place soon: The seating feeling is luxurious, there is a lot of space, a lot of car around you, and you can even sit comfortably on the lowered two seats in the back. The display, the pride and joy of Porsche's digital department, has been reduced to the essentials, purists can even choose to have only the speed and nothing else displayed. The dashboard and displays are too bare, smooth and cool for my taste; I like haptic. But according to Porsche, Porsche customers are the ones who expect a car with the highest driving performance to also play in the very highest league digitally. Mission accomplished.

Taycan
Clearly structured and with a new architecture, the cockpit of the Taycan represents the start of a new era.

Apple Car Play and Music Integration
The Taycan is also the first car ever to offer Apple Music integration in addition to Apple Car Play. With a three-year free in-car Internet connection. Porsche developed the system together with Apple and shared the costs. Let's hope that only the subscription expires after three years and that the entire system does not collapse, as is sometimes the case with Apple devices.

Taycan
The silhouette of the Taycan is defined by the sporty, rearward-sloping roofline.

As desired 500 or 560 kW power
The top version of the Taycan is the Turbo S with 560 kW (761 hp) and a range of 412 kilometers. The Taycan Turbo produces 500 kW (680 hp) and aims to offer a range of 450 kilometers. The special feature of this electric motor is that it is an 800-volt unit instead of the usual 400 volts, which means it can be recharged in five minutes with direct current (DC) in the fast charging network to provide energy for up to 100 more kilometers of range, an advantage for long-distance planning.
The prices: 194,900 francs for the Porsche Taycan Turbo version 237,500 francs for the Turbos S.
