Thanks to a state-of-the-art car tower, Centra Garage is now able to show interested Volvo customers a variety of new vehicles within minutes, depending on their needs.
The Volvo Tower allows up to 34 vehicles to be stored on a floor area of 120 square meters. The filigree glass tower, which is around 22 meters high, not only offers optimum storage options for vehicles, but also blends in architecturally with the cityscape.
Making the most of the advantages of the city
Charly Rüedi, owner of Centra-Garage AG: "In recent decades, many car dealerships have moved away from the city of Basel to the countryside. This is because land in the city is expensive and small. But we wanted to take a different approach, to use the advantages of the city and outweigh the disadvantages. That's how the idea of the Volvo Tower came about."
Desired model comes in minutes
The tower will enable Centra Garage to increase the number of new Volvo vehicles it can display and inspect fivefold in one fell swoop - from the previous seven vehicles to a new total of up to 35.
If interested customers want to see a specific Volvo model, it takes about two minutes to place it on the rotating platform of the glass tower.
Charging stations for electric vehicles
The Volvo Tower operates fully automatically and customers will in future also be able to store their vehicles in the tower themselves and around the clock for a workshop appointment.
Six pallets are already equipped with charging stations for hybrid and electric vehicles, all others are prepared for retrofitting to electric models. The electricity for the charging stations is generated on site, with a photovoltaic facade CO2 neutral. The goal of Centra Garage is to also operate the lift of the glass tower mainly with its own solar power.
