With the rear window sloping more than before, the muscular flank and the elegant, horizontally shaped taillights, the vehicle presents itself as an independent and equally elegant alternative to the sedan. Daimler Board Member Ola Källenius: "Some people even say it looks better than the sedan. In any case, my two children have very good space." Diesel and gasoline engines from 150 hp to optimized 401 hp
Under the hood are the same engines as in the sedan, including a completely newly developed 2.0-liter diesel engine with 150 hp in the E 200 d and 194 hp in the E 220 d. The 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel in the E 350 d produces 258 hp. Above this is the 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel in the E 350 d; it produces 258 hp. In terms of gasoline engines, Mercedes-Benz relies on a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo with 184 hp in the E 200 and 211 hp in the E 250.
The top end of the gasoline engines in the Mercedes-Benz range is the E 400 4Matic with the familiar 3.0 V6 biturbo, which produces 333 hp. However, the range also continues above the E 400, where the performance subsidiary AMG from Affalterbach takes over. The entry-level model is the Mercedes-AMG E43 4MATIC, whose V6 engine delivers 401 hp to the crankshaft.
