The convertible shares the same wheelbase as the C-Class Coupé, which is already available, but at just under 4.70 meters it measures around 5 centimeters less than the closed model. The soft top opens and closes within 20 seconds. The open C-Class is a fully-fledged four-seater, but the comfort package (1450 francs extra) is needed to enjoy the open comfort of four people. This includes the Aircap wind deflector integrated in the windshield frame and the Airscarf neck warmer for the front seats.
The first drives around Trieste show that Mercedes has solved the problems of an open car well: the torsional stiffness leaves nothing to be desired, and the otherwise usual vibrations on poor road surfaces are almost completely absent. This increases comfort and driving dynamics, which is especially desirable for the upper of the ten engine options. At the same time, the roof mechanism and stiffeners add only 125 kilograms to the weight of the C-Coupé.
Engines are on offer from 156 hp to 510 hp
The C-Cabriolet is available as the C180 (1.6-turbo/156 hp) from 44,900 francs, while the top AMG C63S model (4.0-V8/510 hp) is listed from 111,300 francs. Mercedes Switzerland expects the C200 4Matic (2.0-turbo/184 hp; 55 300 francs) and AMG C43 4Matic (3.0-V6/367 hp; 79 400 francs) to be the top models. Up to the AMG C43, all cars will have the new 9-speed automatic as an option.
