Standard tires have been used in Europe's most popular touring car racing series since 2000. Hankook has been the official partner and exclusive supplier of the DTM since 2011. With the new contract, Hankook stands for the longest tire partnership in the more than 30-year history of the DTM.
Ex-GP driver Gerhard Berger, Chairman of ITR, praises the professional cooperation.
Gerhard Berger: "The DTM demands the highest standards of technology and quality from its technical partners. This season in particular, the stresses on the tires have increased a bit more due to the new turbo engines with more than 600 hp. The Hankook racing tires have always met all the requirements and demonstrated high performance potential. The early extension of our established partnership is an expression of a trusting and professional collaboration."
Technology and marketing
Under the new contract, the premium manufacturer will continue to equip all DTM cars with its tires and provide technical support to the teams on site with its engineers. In addition, Hankook will activate the partnership with advertising boards along the race track, an exhibition area in the Fan Village and other marketing measures.
Hyun Bum Cho, President & CEO of Hankook Tire: "With its international platform, DTM offers us the opportunity to continuously demonstrate our established technological know-how and to continuously strengthen our global presence in motorsport."
