Maurice Turrettini: "The Geneva Motor Show will become an experience platform around current mobility."

With the new concepts "GIMS-Discovery", "GIMS-Tech" and "GIMS-Mediadays", the Geneva Motor Show can build on its proven strength as a popular and successful meeting place for the international automotive world.

Maurice Turrettini, President of the Geneva International Motor Show: "Our aim is for the visit to be an experience for car lovers and technology freaks, for trade visitors and interested parties, for young and old. We are delighted with the many registrations for 2020 from our traditional exhibitors."

GIMS-Discovery offers rides with electric cars
From March 2 to 15, 2020, "GIMS Discovery" will offer media representatives and visitors the opportunity to test electric cars on a large Idoor track in Hall 7. This will allow visitors to experience a wide range of models from GIMS exhibitors in action, from fascinating supercars to practical cars for everyday use.

Olivier Rihs, General Director of GIMS: "With GIMS-Discovery we offer a unique experience around electric mobility. Viewing, discovering and finally driving cars all takes place under a single roof. This indoor test track is therefore independent of time, weather and traffic. We are convinced that we can inspire visitors, media representatives and exhibitors with this."

GIMS
It is already becoming apparent that the most important car manufacturers will be represented at GIMS 2020.

Hardly any interested parties for a short fair
From 2020, both in Switzerland and in the European Union, the existing CO2 limit for new passenger cars will be gradually reduced to 95g/km. At the same time, however, around 97 percent of all car owners have never driven an electric or hybrid vehicle - this is to be remedied in Hall 7.

During the last few years, Hall 7 has been the meeting place for national suppliers and garages. However, their interest in exhibiting at GIMS has dwindled. Since 2018, there has therefore been a working group that has developed the concept of a short trade fair for these exhibitors.

The target was clear: 70 exhibitors should register by July 1, 2019. This target was not reached, accordingly, this short fair can not take place.

Meeting place for mobility pioneers
Another new platform is the "GIMS-Tech". Visitors meet start-ups from the industry, providers of new mobility services and innovative technology companies at this module. The "GIMS-Tech" is a meeting place for pioneers in the field of mobility and is aimed at all mobility providers.

At the "GIMS-Mediadays", the program for conferences in various subject areas will be further expanded.

Main manufacturers are present
It is already becoming apparent that the most important automotive manufacturers will be represented at GIMS 2020. The 90th edition of GIMS will be open to visitors from March 5 to 15, 2020. The "Car of the Year" trophy will be awarded on March 2, 2019.
