A hot Sunday is in the offing, both in sporting and meteorological terms. Neither is unusual for the Reitnau hill climb. With the exception of Joël Volluz, all the specialists in contention for the top places in the touring cars and racing sports cars will be at the start of the popular one-day event (from 7 a.m. to around 6 p.m.).

Berguerand or Steiner?
As in Hemberg, an interesting duel between Marcel Steiner in the LobArt-Mugen sports car and Eric Berguerand in the Lola-Cosworth own-build based on a former Formula 3000 is to be expected. A year ago, in midsummer weather, Steiner improved the record held since 2013 by Berguerand on the 1600 m short sprint track from 48.20 to 47.86 seconds already in the first race run. No question that the man from Valais wants to strike back like two weeks ago in Hemberg.

Four people from Aargau with big racing cars
What makes the organizing ACS-Mitte and many visitors from the region particularly happy: With Thomas Amweg (Ammerswil), Robin Faustini (Suhr), his father Simon Hugentobler (Suhr) and Daniel Mauerhofer (Schninznach), four people from Aargau will be competing in the largest displacement race car class up to three liters. After Hugentobler sold his little-used Osella sports car to Germany only in late summer 2018 (the purchase offer was too good), he returns to the hillclimb circuit with the Reynard 97D that was last raced in 2017. Mauerhofer already showed up at the Frauenfeld slalom, but there he experienced technical problems with the Dallara-Nissan V6 from the former World Series.

Hemberg was already over for Ronnie Bratschi on Saturday. Now the FIA E1 Cup winner is aiming for victory in Reitnau (Photo: RK-Photography).

Bratschi-Mitsubishi ready for operation again
In the touring cars, Reto Meisel holds the track record in 52.71 seconds in his Mercedes SL340. In his absence, Ronnie Bratschi, Thomas Kessler, and Roger Schnellmann in their Mitsubishi settle the victory among themselves. In Hemberg, Bratschi already had to charge on the training day. The suspension of his Evo VIII has now been repaired and strengthened to such an extent that this should not happen again so quickly without outside intervention.

Shade giver and thirst quencher
Visitors are offered several shaded areas along the race track, for example at the edge of the forest up to the spectator curve, in the upper part of the track under the many apple trees and in the marquee. Sunshades may be used for the first time on the always crowded natural grandstand above the spectator curve. In order not to impair the view, however, opening is only allowed during the returns and other breaks. In addition, there is always some wind blowing in Reitnau, points out OC President Thomas Kohler of the ACS Center, which makes the temperatures more bearable. All operators of the food stands have taken precautions to be able to offer cool drinks, fine food and ice cream all day.

The spectator slope will be full again on Sunday. For reasons of fairness, sunshades should only be opened during the breaks.

Enough parking spaces
Sufficient parking spaces are available in Reitnau and Attelwil. Early risers can park on Staffelbacherstrasse in Reitnau. On the Wiliberg near the finish, however, there are no more official parking spaces.

Entrance fees, start list, schedule and other information can be found on the specially created homepage.

He comes to Switzerland for the first time: Loris Rosati gives his Ape Proto a run for its money in the show block.
