The makers of the Blitz deliberately chose their most popular model series to bring electric mobility out of its niche existence. Michael Lohscheller: "The Corsa is one of the best-selling vehicles in Europe. Now it also makes electric mobility affordable for everyone."
For the first time, Opel is offering a purely battery-electric version with 100 kW (136 hp) of power and a range of up to 330 kilometers in the all-new sixth-generation Corsa. The Corsa-e, which will soon be available to order, is the people's electric car with the lightning bolt. The base price is expected to be around 30,000 francs.
Choice of Normal, Eco and Sport drive modes
With its range, the five-seater is fully suitable for everyday use. The 50 kWh batteries can be recharged to 80 percent within 30 minutes using fast charging. Whether a cable solution for the household socket, wallbox or high-speed charging - the new model is prepared for all charging options. The charging status can be checked using the myOpel app.
The data sheet promises typical e-car driving pleasure. The small electric car is said to complete the sprint from 0 to 50 km/h in 2.8 seconds, and it takes 8.1 seconds to reach 100 km/h. The driver can also vary the driving and response behavior in terms of range or dynamics via the Normal, Eco and Sport driving modes.
Live navigation with real-time traffic information
The Corsa-e incorporates technologies and assistance systems that are otherwise only installed in higher vehicle classes. One highlight is the adaptive glare-free IntelliLux LED matrix light, which Opel is offering for the first time in the small car segment. The total of eight LED elements are controlled by a high-resolution front camera and automatically adjust the light beam.
Occupants are optimally connected and entertained with the infotainment offering consisting of Multimedia Navi with 7-inch color touchscreen and the top-of-the-line Multimedia Navi Pro system with 10-inch color touchscreen. The Corsa-e also offers the new Opel Connect telematics service. Live navigation with real-time traffic information and a direct connection to roadside assistance and emergency calls make the journey even more relaxed for drivers and passengers.
First gasoline and diesel at the garage
Although the Corsa-e can be ordered immediately, the first units will not be delivered until spring 2020. Until then, the new generation will be on the road with conventional combustion engines. Three three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines with 75 hp, 100 hp and 130 hp as well as a 100 hp diesel are already available after the world premiere at the International Motor Show (September 12 to 22) in Frankfurt.
