Chablais: three-country fight for the Clio victory

THREE AGAINST ONE With victory in the first two rallies, Styve Juif clearly leads the Clio R3T Alps Trophy 2019. Three competitors from Switzerland and Germany want to stop the Frenchman this weekend. After their victories in the Rallye Pays du Gier and Critérium Jurassien, Styve Juif/Cyliane Michel go into the [...]

At the Critérium Jurassien, Styve Juif felt right at home. At the Rallye du Chablais, he finds himself on the terrain of two strong class rivals.

After their victories in the Rallye Pays du Gier and Critérium Jurassien, Styve Juif/Cyliane Michel go to the start in Aigle as clear championship favorites. The Frenchman, who lives near the Jurassic border, nevertheless remains cautious and plays down his chances.

Styve Juif: "From Chablais on, we'll be driving three more rallies in the mountains. That means little grip and steep gradients in some places. From my point of view, I don't have enough training for these kinds of special stages and especially for the descents. But the goal remains the same for the rest of the season: drive regularly and hold the lead!"

Home game for Vuistiner and Lathion
Ismaël Vuistiner and Florine Kummer have two second place finishes to their name this season and are also in second place in the intermediate rankings. Just 60 km from home, they race on home turf at Chablais. The Valais team held the lead last year until they slipped on a wet section. They proved that this type of special stage suits them.

Many spectators at the Chablais will come from Ismaël Vuistiner's region. The Valais native wants to offer them a top performance.

The same goes for Nicolas Lathion/Yannick Schriber, who are also contesting a home race, so to speak. Although they have not been spoiled by great success, they have shown their potential in the Renault Clio R3T during this season. In front of their own audience, the 2017 Swiss junior rally champions will be doing everything they can to target what is still a possible victory in the overall standings of the 2019 Clio R3T Alps Trophy. At the moment, the team is in fourth place in the interim standings.

Is Beck hitting back?
Always good for a win are the Germans Karl Friedrich Beck and Jörg Stierle, who are in third place in the championship. Charlie Beck is known to be fast on the road and can count on a lot of experience. And it is known that they never give up prematurely....

Thibaut Mounard/Thierry Marrel have also found the fast rhythm with the Renault Clio R3T, but are driving the remaining three rallies for the first time. It can be assumed that they will have to get to grips with these special stages first - and against competition that knows its stuff. Nevertheless, the French team will be counting on valuable points for the championship at the Chablais.

It is about the start at the Monte 2020
Martial Praz/Charlène Bori are entered in the Rallye du Chablais, but had to declare forfait due to their budget. With four teams competing for victory, the Rallye du Chablais should nevertheless be a sporting highlight of the 2019 Clio R3T Alps Trophy. Everyone knows that the first decisions for the overall victory and thus also for the free start at the Rally Monte Carlo 2020 will be made at mid-season!
