With its new 1.5 TFSI engine, which now produces 131 hp, the A3 Sportback g-tron sets standards when it comes to efficiency and economy. The engineers have modified the cylinder head, turbocharging, injection system and catalytic converter of the four-cylinder engine for optimization.
Compared with gasoline, the combustion of natural gas produces around 25 percent less CO2 because of the lowest carbon content of all hydrocarbons. In addition, particulate emissions remain very low.

High requirements for safety
In the new Audi A3 Sportback g-tron, an additional steel cylinder filled with four kilograms of CNG extends the gas range. The downsizing of the gasoline tank creates the necessary space for this additional gas storage. A nine-liter gasoline tank provides the conventional mobility reserve.
The filler necks for gas and gasoline are located under a common fuel filler flap. Two displays inform the driver about the fill levels of the tanks. The driver information system displays consumption in the current operating mode.
