GP3: Kevin Jörg drives for DAMS in 2016
Kevin Jörg already impressed with good test times in Abu Dhabi last year. Now the 20-year-old has made his decision: He will be competing for Team DAMS in GP3. "GP3 promises to be very competitive. "GP3 promises to be very competitive. There are a lot of strong drivers in it. It's going to be a big challenge, which I'm happy to take on. I'm looking forward to an exciting season," said Jörg.
On his first visit to the DAMS factory in Le Mans, Jörg felt right at home. "They showed us everything in great detail and their technical capabilities and methods are really very impressive. So I think DAMS has the best prerequisites to understand the new GP3 car the fastest," he said.
Experienced race team
DAMS is a long-standing, experienced racing team: In GP2 and Formula E, they each secured the team title in 2015. After Renault's withdrawal from the 3.5 series and the resulting uncertain future, DAMS decided to enter the GP3 series.
"As newcomers to GP3, we are aware that there is a lot to learn. However, we hope to be competitive right from the start. So far, DAMS has managed to win in every category we have entered. And we hope to be able to continue this. We are convinced that the talent and speed of our three young drivers will help us achieve this goal," said Jean-Paul Driot, team owner of DAMS.
Tire management is crucial
One key to a successful GP3 season, according to Jörg, is tire management. "This is also our focus for the first test drives," he explained. These will take place from March 22 to 24 in Estoril, Portugal.
