Due to time constraints, the 39 drivers from the Suzuki Swiss Racing Cup, who were last in line at the Interlaken slalom on early Saturday evening, had to start the two race runs immediately after the inspection run. So only those who had studied the 2.5-kilometer course with 45 gates on the airfield well in advance had a chance.

Goal error of the fastest
With Fabian Eggenberger, Sandro Fehr and Marcel Muzzarelli the three most named favorites seemed to occupy the podium. But last year's serial winner in the Suzuki Grand Prix had made a gate error in his faster second run with the best time of all competitors, so that Eggenberger came in with his first time and thus slipped from first to fifth place.

Cup newcomer on the podium
Not undeservedly Sandro Fehr came to the victory. His second time was 18 hundredths faster than that of Muzzarelli. Simeon Schneider was the fastest after the first run, but was unable to improve thereafter. Nevertheless, the newcomer to a one-make cup was ultimately able to finish third ahead of Christian Zimmermann, Fabian Eggenberger and Ralf Henggeler.

It was already well past 8 p.m. when the award ceremony could be held. The first podium in the Suzuki Swiss Racing Cup 2019 was taken by (from left) Simeon Schneider, Sandro Fehr and Marcel Muzzarelli.

The fastest of the four ladies was Alexandra Mühlethaler in 30th place. Swinger Remo Käser, who took part in his first car race as brand ambassador and guest driver for Suzuki Automobile Schweiz AG, finished in 38th place.
