Now emotions are coming into play. And this turnaround is good for the brand and especially for the Corolla. A similar development has also taken place in the current RAV4. New for the Corolla is a second hybrid drive with 180 hp system output and a two-liter gasoline engine. In Switzerland, the dynamically styled Touring Sport station wagon and the compact and sporty-looking Corolla with hatchback are offered.
All models have front wheel drive
The model range, which is available exclusively with front-wheel drive, at a glance: 1.2 liter Turbo Hatchback Active from 25,900 Swiss francs and 1.2 liter Turbo Touring Sports Active from 27,200 Swiss francs, each with 116 hp and optional 6-speed transmission or CVT.
The range of full hybrid models starts with the 1.8 liter Hatchback Active (from CHF 31,000) and 1.8 liter Touring Sports Active (from CHF 32,300), each with 122 hp, followed by the 2.0 liter Hatchback Trend (from CHF 38,200) and Touring Sports Trend (from CHF 39,800), each with 180 hp.
Planetary gear transmits the power
All hybrid drives transmit power via a planetary gearbox, which still stands for CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) in memory of the old belt transmissions, or e-CVT in Toyota's case. You get the feeling that you're driving an electric vehicle.
The materials are of high quality and well-made. The seats are comfortable but not soft and provide good lateral support. The interior for the rear seat passengers is noticeably larger in terms of knee and headroom than in the predecessor.
