With the ID. Buggy at the Geneva Motor Show, Volkswagen is demonstrating the MEB's variability for small series as well.

The costs of e-mobility are to be significantly reduced by spreading the MEB as widely as possible and the associated economies of scale. This should make individual mobility affordable and usable for many people in the future.

100 million e-cars on Group platform
In a first phase, the Volkswagen Group plans to build around 15 million pure e-vehicles on the MEB. Dr. Herbert Diess, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG: "We have proven that we are platform professionals with our Modular Transverse Toolkit. Over 100 million of our vehicles are based on this platform. With the MEB platform, we are transferring this successful concept to the electric age and opening ourselves up to third parties. The MEB is to be established as the standard for e-mobility. Even emotionally designed small-series vehicles such as the ID. Buggy can be realized easily and cost-effectively on the basis of MEB."

Numerous electrical studies are already being planned
The VW CEO announced numerous e-vehicles and e-studies for the coming years such as the Audi e-tron GT, the Skoda Vision iV, the Seat Urban Car and the ID. Buggy. Volkswagen will invest almost 44 billion euros in electrification, digitalization, mobility services and autonomous driving by 2023, 30 billion euros of which will be invested in e-mobility alone. By 2025, e-cars will account for around a quarter of the model portfolio.
