At the Losail International Circuit, where the Qatar Grand Prix will be held next Sunday, all teams were able to prepare for the start of the 2019 World Motorcycle Championship season during three days of testing. So also Dominique Aegerter and his new team Forward Racing from Ticino, which brings the MV Agusta brand back to the race track.
Development backlog
Although Aegerter and his team are not yet where they would like to be with the development work on the MV Agusta F2 and the test times were accordingly behind the best times, the 28-year-old Bernese is relatively confident about the first race of the season.
Dominique Aegerter: "It simply needs a lot more time to develop the bike further. At the moment, we still lack the clues as to what is really good and what is not. In addition, there is also the new Triumph engine, which still gives us a lot to solve in terms of engine braking, shifting and so on. The team is working really well and they are giving me time to understand all these things."

Calm before the storm
Aegerter therefore knows that calm and patience are now required, although the tests did not bring the hoped-for results.
Dominique Aegerter: "The problem is that now the tests are over and only the free practice sessions next Friday and Saturday remain to get the bike ready for the first race. Hopefully we will make a big step forward in these sessions. Of course I expected the situation to be different and hoped for more. Now we have a few days to relax and gather fresh energy for the first race weekend. From this Friday onwards, we'll have to switch to race mode anyway. That spurs on the motivation even more."
