The 16 tires of the dimension 185/65 R15 88 H are suitable for small cars such as Citroen C3, VW Polo, Renault Clio, Mazda 2 or Seat Ibiza. They scored well across the board in the TCS test. Two of the 16 tires tested received the final rating "highly recommended" (Bridgestone Turanza T005 and Vredestein Sportrac 5). They impressed above all with their balance and high mileage. The remaining 14 tires received a rating of "recommendable" and were downgraded due to their performance on wet roads, among other things.
Disappointing results for vans
For the first time, TCS has tested summer tires of the van dimension 215/65 R16C 109T. This tire size, which is mainly used in the commercial sector on vans, is mainly designed for low wear. But vans are also becoming increasingly popular in the private sector as family vehicles.
The overall result of the 16 tires tested is disappointing. Not a single tire received the final grade "highly recommended" and only five are rated "recommendable".
The other eleven tires tested are not convincing, with ratings of "not recommendable" (9) and "conditionally recommendable" (2). The results on wet roads in particular are unacceptable for a large proportion of the tires and must be classified as dangerous for use on the road.
