Vehicles from various classes are represented, including the Hyundai Nexo, an SUV with a hydrogen fuel cell, the Audi e-Tron and Jaguar I-Pace, two all-electric SUVs, a classic SUV (Suzuki Jimny) and two sports sedans (BMW 3 Series and Genesis G70). They are joined by the Ford Focus and Mercedes-Benz A-Class Volvo S60/V60 and the XC40.
Now the experts have their say: A group of more than 80 international trade journalists will cast their final votes in the next few days. On the eve of the Geneva Motor Show (March 7 to 17), the three candidates for the final selection will be announced, and the winner will then take to the stage in New York.
Subgroups with interesting brands
In addition to the ten WCOTY candidates, there are other competitors in the subcategories. The Audi A7 and Q8 models, the BMW 8 Series, the Mercedes-Benz CLS and the Volkswagen Touareg, for example, can all hope to win the title of "World Luxury Car.
The Audi e-Tron, the Honda Clarity, the Hyundai Nexo, the Jaguar I-Pace and the Kia e-Niro can become "World Green Car". The Aston Martin Vantage, the BMW M2 Competition, the Hyundai Veloster N, the McLaren 720S and the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 53/63 are vying for the title of "World Performance Car".
