Subaru: Opening of the special show 🎥

ANNIVERSARY 40 years ago, the Subaru 1600 4WD came onto the Swiss market. Although initially ridiculed, the four-wheel drive station wagon took the country by storm. An exhibition at the Classic Car Museum in Safenwil traces the Subaru success story. Around 400 invited guests, including all Swiss Subaru dealers, attended the opening of the special exhibition at the Classic Car Museum in Safenwil. Star guest next to singer Eliane was ambassador icon Bernhard Russi, who has represented the brand to the outside world in a credible and likeable way practically from day one until today. The fact that Russi postponed his trip to the Alpine Ski World Championships in Sweden until Friday testifies to his solidarity with the Swiss Subaru importer.

Brand ambassador Bernhard Russi and Lorenz Frey, Director Emil Frey Group, opened the exhibition on Thursday evening.

From the beginnings to the present
The exhibition, which is the only one of its kind to date, also features historic models that predate the introduction of the Subaru brand in Switzerland. For example, the cuddly Subaru 360, with which the Japanese entered large-scale production more than 60 years ago. In Safenwil, visitors can marvel at a number of the company's own collector's items as well as loans from Switzerland and all over the world.

Of course, the most successful rally cars must not be missing. The adventurous race with Bernhard Russi in the original Dakar Rally in 1982 was given its own corner with many photos and anecdotes. The fact that everyone survived it was a great success.

A book for the anniversary
The history of the Subura brand in general and for 40 years in Switzerland in particular is documented in a book published on the same evening. This is available in the online store of Subaru Switzerland or directly in the Classic Car Museum.

The special exhibition on 40 years of Subaru in Switzerland is open until May 4, 2019. The opening hours can be found at this link emilfreyclassics.ch/museum/overview.

Early symbolic handover of staff: Roland Hüsser (l.) and Pascal Meyer.

Change in the management
Roland Hüsser, Managing Director of Subaru Switzerland AG, used the exclusive evening to announce his retirement at the end of April. His successor will be the current Sales Director Pascal Meyer. Until he takes office on May 1, 2019, Hüsser will prepare him for his new task.
