It must come as a shock to many Sauber fans. From this season onwards, Sauber Motorsport will appear in Formula 1 as "Alfa Romeo Racing". The Sauber name disappears after 26 years.
It has not been communicated whether this year's Formula 1 race car from Hinwil will continue to be called Sauber or just Alfa Romeo (type C38).
Only one renaming
The strategic and technical partnership between Sauber Motorsport and Alfa Romeo began in 2018, with the team operating as Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 last season.
Now the partnership is being intensified with the new name. Ownership and management are to remain unchanged, according to a statement.
