Compared to the previous year, this represents an increase of over eight percent. The Swiss importer's result is in line with the global result of the parent company, which achieved its fifth consecutive record sales in 2018 and broke the barrier of over 600,000 vehicles sold worldwide for the first time.
Swiss bestseller is the XC60
The XC models were particularly successful in Switzerland in 2018, accounting for two-thirds of all registrations. Once again, the Volvo XC60 topped the list as the bestseller: A total of over 3,000 new registrations of the second generation of the mid-size SUV were made in the first full year of sales. Of the 8122 new registrations, almost 900 units are also Twin Engine models. Of all the manufacturers in Switzerland, Volvo has thus clearly sold the largest number of plug-in hybrids.
First all-electric model
Domenico Gaito, Director Sales: "In spring 2019, we will further expand our portfolio with the launch of the S60 sedan and the off-road capable V60 Cross Country. We will also continue our consistent electrification strategy and, in addition to state-of-the-art plug-in hybrid engines, equip our models with efficient mild hybrid technology. This year, we will also present our first fully electric model."
