The Hyundai Tucson is the first Korean model that can be ordered with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. Instead, the engineers combined the 48-volt electrification with the largest and most powerful diesel engine in the range, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 185 hp.
Starter generator supports engine
The engine starts more smoothly than with a conventional starter. When accelerating, a diesel engine lacks pulling power at low speeds due to its very nature. Here, the mild hybrid starter generator can support the diesel engine with up to 16 hp. At the same time, the starter generator recuperates as soon as the accelerator is released or the brakes are applied and feeds a lithium-ion battery.
Assistance system brakes up to 180 km/h
New features include Smartr Cruise Sontrol with stop-and-go function. Here, the car maintains the distance to the car in front up to a speed of 180 km/h and brakes down to zero in traffic jams. So the Korean, which is available from 50,500 Swiss francs, can certainly survive for a long time.
