Sharpened, narrow new headlight units emphasize a floating, horizontal line that gives the Prius a wider stance. The apex of the front bumper has been raised to create a coherent, flowing line along the sides of the vehicle.

Since the launch of its first generation in 1997, the Prius has led the way in technical innovation. Over the four generations, it has made even more progress in terms of efficiency, refinement and driving pleasure. The Prius has also been a consistent pioneer of advanced new technologies.

The next step
Now Toyota is marking the next step in its leading-edge, self-charging hybrid technology. The new Prius is the first Toyota to benefit from the Hybrid AWD-i system. This is a new, intelligent, electric all-wheel-drive system that provides safer handling and a stable driving experience.

New combination lights at the rear also create a strong horizontal line, emphasizing the low center of gravity. The area around the license plate is in the shape of an upside-down trapezoid, which further enhances the effect created by the horizontal line.

Unveiled Nov. 28 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the new Prius has received a makeover in design, technology and driving dynamics. The design is refreshed with new lines, revised front and rear sections, new headlights and wheel designs, and an attractive color selection.

European premiere in January
Enhanced features, including a larger compartment for wireless smartphone charging, expanded head-up display functionality and a faster, more intuitive Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system are available.

The new Toyota Prius will be unveiled for the first time in Europe in January 2019 at the Brussels Motor Show.
