The premiere of an eGrand Prix in Paris was the highlight of the year for the organizers of the first electric world championship in motorsport and its participants. Around 20,000 spectators attended the race on the 1.9 kilometer short course around the historic Hôtel des Invalides with a view of the Eiffel Tower. Prince Albert of Monaco was also among them. Lucas di Grassi, who celebrated his third win of the season in the Abt-Schaeffler race car and relegated Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne from the DS Virgin team to second place, prevented the French fans from getting their money's worth. The Brazilian thus extended his lead in the standings over Sébastien Buemi from one to eleven points. As the tires of his e.dams-Renault did not generate good grip quickly enough on a fast lap in qualifying, the Vaud native had to settle for eighth place on the grid behind his team-mate Nicolas Prost (5th).
