Kolibri is primarily intended to appeal to people who have rarely traveled by public transport up to now. Buses are available with immediate effect.

On the way, other passengers can hop on who are traveling on a similar route. The pioneering project is a combination of public transport and cab service. PostBus is testing the service with its partners Amag and SBB and in collaboration with the canton of Aargau and the Federal Office of Transport (FOT). Several minibuses are available under the name Kollibri.

Innovative mobility on demand
Customers can book the vehicles for any trip from A to B within a certain area. Unlike a cab, other passengers with a similar itinerary can hop on along the way, turning the minibus into a kind of shared cab. This is also intended to appeal to people.

Calculation and payment via app
Customers order a minibus using an app on their smartphone. Passengers individually select the start and destination of their trip within the service area. It may be that other passengers who are traveling on a very similar itinerary and have also booked a Kollibri ride via app join them on the way. Although this can slightly increase the travel time of a single passenger, at the same time the price decreases because several people share the costs. Customers see the departure and arrival times in each case when they book. Prices are calculated and payment is made via an app on the smartphone, which requires a credit card.

SBB monitors daily operations
In addition to Amag, the two local cab companies "Brugger Taxi" and "Taxi 24" are responsible for daily operations. SBB operates the control center and thus maintains an overview of daily operations. The Finnish company Kyyti supplies the software, which has already been used successfully in Finland for over a year.
