Motorsport: Four Swiss in the TCR Germany
Among the 22 drivers in the new ADAC TCR Germany are four Swiss. Unfortunately, Jasmin Preisig has to postpone her TCR debut in the Opel Astra until June. On Monday, the ADAC published the list of participants in the newly launched national championship for touring cars based on the TCR regulations (two-liter turbo engines). The ADAC TCR Germany will be integrated into its own series of events with the GT Masters and Formula 4. Eleven teams have signed up with 22 Honda Civic, Opel Astra, Seat Leon and VW Golf cars, although not all of them will start at the premiere from April 15 to 17 at Oschersleben.
Disappointment for Jasmin Preisig
Among the drivers from six countries, there are fortunately four from Switzerland, including Jasmin Preisig, the only lady in the top-class field. To her great disappointment, however, the 23-year-old from Appenzell will only be able to take part in the action from the third race in an Opel Astra TCR from Lubner Motorsport. It was only two weeks ago that she learned of delivery problems on the part of Opel Motorsport. She earned her spurs in 2015 in the OPC Challenge at the Nürburgring, where she proved that she can handle such touring cars.
Two favorites from Switzerland
Pascal Eberle joins the new German racing series as champion of the Renault Clio Cup Central Europe with Steibel Motorsport and a proven Seat Leon Cup Racer. For him, the step from the 1600 to the two-liter turbo is not too big either. On the other hand, Daniel Conrad, like his last year's master Peter Rikli, will have to show how well and quickly he can make the switch from the naturally aspirated Honda Civic S2000 to the 330-hp VW Golf GTI TCR from Engstler Motorsport.
Ronny Jost brings experience to the table. The man from Berne is moving from the European Cup to the TCR Germany with the new Seal Leon he acquired in 2015 and the family-owned TOPCAR Sport team. Eberle and he can be expected to achieve top results right from the start. Hopp Schwyz!
