The new Golf GTI Clubsport follows in the tradition of a number of anniversary models, as Volkswagen also honored the Golf GTI with exclusive edition models for its 20th, 25th, 30th and 35th anniversaries. The Golf GTI Clubsport is now the most powerful series-produced GTI to date with 265 hp. But that's not all: for ten seconds at a time, the driver can increase the engine's output to 290 hp via the boost function. The power boost is activated by kicking down the gas pedal.
At the start of sales, Volkswagen is offering the Golf GTI Clubsport with a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG). With this engine-transmission variant, the Wolfsburg car accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds.
