Once again, the most important target group in the Swiss motorcycle market has decided - the "Motorcycle of the Year 2018" have been chosen. A total of 202 models in nine categories were put to the vote, presented by the motorcycle magazine TÖFF. At the same time, this election took place in another five countries across Europe, making it the largest motorcycle election in Europe. In Switzerland, just under 2000 readers took part.
Current image barometer of the Swiss industry
The election of the "Bike of the Year 2018" not only represents the hit list of the most popular motorcycles, but is also a current image barometer for the bike market in Switzerland: The additionally surveyed attitudes of the readers to 23 motorcycle brands paint an up-to-date picture of the respective brand in the eye of the consumer. Due to the survey method, which has been identical for years, long-term observations with the ups and downs of the individual brand images are also possible.
Dominique Aegerter wins celebrity race 2018
On the race track of the new Swiss-Moto-Drome, some of the most talented riders from Swiss racing as well as various celebrities delivered a spectacular race duel with pit bikes. Moto2 star Dominique Aegerter secured first place in a hard-fought race ahead of supermoto pro Kevin Tschümperli and Swiss MX1 class motocross rider Nick Triest.
Rat's Hole Award for Customizer from Austria
The highlight for the public was once again the bike show with 60 specially selected works of art. The bikes on display met a high international quality standard. They were judged by the jury of apprentices from the Gewerblich-Industrieelle Berufsschule Bern on style, technical execution as well as workmanship and innovations. The Oscar of the customizing scene was won by the Austrian Dominic Loretter from Feldkirch with his modified vintage bike "Fireball". The top prize "Best of Show" went to Nedal Amin from Kuwait with his radical self-built vehicle based on a Harley-Davidson with 32-inch wheels, supercharger and a paint job reminiscent of the Arabian Nights. The special "Emirates Pick" prize was won by Kay Blanke from Germany with his hand-built racing-style bike. The next Swiss-Moto will take place from February 21 to 24, 2019 at the Zurich Exhibition Center.
