The Alfa Romeo Stelvio won the "Swiss people's favorite car" award in the same public vote conducted by Schweizer Illustrierte and its partners.

Many novelties
In the two main categories alone, 46 innovations were up for election. Three expert juries chose "The Swiss Car of the Year," "The Most Stylish Car in Switzerland" and "The Greenest Car in Switzerland. The members of the twelve-member expert jury chose the new generation of the Opel Ampera-e five-seater electric car as "Swiss Car of the Year 2018." In the category "The Greenest Car in Switzerland", the electric Renault Zoe Z.E. 40 with its larger lithium-ion battery (capacity: 41 kWh) secured the title. There was a clear winner in the category "The most stylish car in Switzerland". Here, the dynamic Range Rover Velar scored the most points with the ten-strong celebrity jury.

Opel Ampera-e convinced
After the first generation of the electric Opel Ampera won the coveted title in 2012, the second generation of the purely electric Opel Ampera-e has now followed suit. The new range king among the e-mobiles at an affordable price (from 41,900 Swiss francs) did not receive the maximum number of points from any member of the jury of experts, but it did collect points from all of them. The electric Opel with 204 hp and a standard range of 520 km per battery charge (factory specifications) finally came out on top with 15.67 percent of the points, just ahead of Ford's new Fiesta, which scored 14.67 percent. Third place went to the new BMW 5 Series with twelve percent of the vote.

Famlie won VW Golf
In the big public vote, which was held in all parts of the country, people could not only vote for their favorite car, but also win attractive prizes. The lucky Bernet family from Pfäffikon SZ will soon be able to take the wheel of the main prize, a freely configurable VW Golf worth 40,000 Swiss francs.
