The RX 450h from Lexus will also be available in Switzerland from next spring as a seven-seat "L" variant with three rows of seats.

The RX, which has been available as a hybrid variant for more than ten years, will soon also be available as a long-wheelbase version. The RX 450hL retains its basic design, but now offers capacity for up to seven occupants.

Only little longer
By making optimum use of the interior space and the steeper rear window, the vehicle was only 110mm longer than the 5-seater RX, according to the supplier. The third-row seats can be individually folded down electrically. Access to the third row is gained by simply sliding the outer seats of the second bench forward.

Three rows
Lexus has designed the seating arrangement so that the second row is slightly higher than the third. This results in more legroom for all rear passengers. In addition, the three-zone climate control system also allows occupants in the third row of seats to adjust the temperature individually. Details that further increase variability, according to the manufacturer, include a flat trunk floor - even when the third row of seats is folded down - and an easy-to-stow luggage compartment cover.

Safety and more
The long seven-seater version also comes standard with the Lexus Safety System +, which includes the Pre-Crash System, Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keeping Assist, Automatic High Beam and Adaptive Cruise Control with Automatic Traffic Jam Control. The Lexus Hybrid Drive combines a 3.5L V6 gasoline engine with two electric motors. The hybrid system delivers a total system output of 313 horsepower. The RX L will be launched in the first half of 2018, prices have not yet been determined.
