Under the direction of architect Aurel Toth (AWS Architekten AG), an extension was built on the approximately 5200 square meter site at Hallmattstrasse 10, which significantly enlarges both the workshop area and the showroom.
Throughput and waiting times shortened
The workshop area was previously limited to 416 square meters; after the conversion, the mechanics work at eleven modern maintenance and repair stations on 722 square meters, doubling capacity. The previous showroom area has been significantly expanded and now offers around 700 square meters of space for up to 17 vehicles. The team around Managing Director Andreas Steffen currently consists of 33 employees.
Sustainability
When designing the new building, great attention was paid to sustainability: Through the new lighting concept, the entire building is illuminated with energy-saving LEDs, and rainwater is recycled into an adjacent stream. Heating and ventilation in the triple-glazed new building are provided and controlled by a heat pump. In addition, the flat roof was extensively greened. In the future, two fast-charging stations are planned at the site for electrified sports cars such as the Porsche Mission E, which will be launched at the end of the decade.
Growth
„With the expansion of the Porsche Center Bern, we are responding to the growth of Porsche in Switzerland in recent years," says Stephan Altrichter, Managing Director of Porsche Schweiz AG.
