In July of this year, Volvo Cars published a statement on the subject of electrification and future drive technologies: By 2019, every new Volvo will be available only in an electrified variant, as an all-electric model, a plug-in hybrid or a mild hybrid. The combination of gasoline engine on the front axle and electric motor on the rear axle not only enables all-wheel drive, but also a combined system output of 407 hp, with fuel consumption of just 2.0 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 46 g/km (example V90, standard consumption in the combined cycle factory specification).
Three options
Three driving modes offer the advantages of both drive systems depending on the driving situation and desire:
- Hybrid mode - optimized use of the drives with max. range and 2.1l/100 km consumption
- Pure mode - pure electric operation for commuter traffic with up to 45 km range
- Power mode - dynamic, combined performance with 407 hp and 640 Nm of torque.
