TCR: Stefano Comini says goodbye to Target Competition
In the debut season of the TCR International Series in 2015, Swiss driver Stefano Comini won the drivers' and team titles together with Target Competition. After three years together, Comini's separation from Target Competition was anything but easy. "We shared intense moments, especially in TCR. It was an explosive mix of emotions: Enthusiasm, adrenaline, glory, but unfortunately also defeats and difficulties on individual fronts... But it is precisely these reasons that make winning the title with the team all the more beautiful! A joy that - when I think back on it now - I could no longer put into words," said Comini.
"Both sides have made sacrifices, now it's time to draw the consequences and look ahead. That's why I decided to leave Target in 2016. I love racing, speed and everything that moves forward and I do," the 26-year-old explained further.
Comini's goal is to compete in the TCR International Series again in 2016 and defend his title. It is not yet known which team he will be racing for. There is to be a press conference on this at the headquarters of the future team as early as the end of February. "In addition to my main project, I will then also have the opportunity to compete in other championships. That just makes the deal even better! However, the details still need to be sorted out. But it looks very good," Comini told touringcartimes.com.
