The new VW Arteon, which is now coming to Swiss dealers, is designed to bridge the gap between a classic touring saloon and a sports car.

The manufacturer sees the new model as a sporty Gran Turismo with plenty of space and the latest generation of assistance systems, interactively networked, with a powerful engine and yet as comfortable as a luxury-class sedan.

Market launch takes place
The vehicle is now available for a test drive at all Swiss VW dealers and starts at a price of 44,300 Swiss francs. The Arteon was developed on the basis of the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB). The body overhangs of the 4862 mm long fastback model are correspondingly short. The Arteon is 1871 mm wide and 1427 mm high. The trunk volume ranges from 563 to a maximum of 1557 liters with the rear seat backrests folded down.

Innovative technologies
The innovative assistance systems match the overall concept. Three technologies illustrate this: Automatic Distance Control (ACC) now takes into account speed limits, curves, traffic circles and junctions, among other things, and automatically adjusts the speed. Dynamic bend lighting uses GPS and road data from the navigation system to detect when a bend is coming and illuminates it even before the driver actively approaches it. The second generation of Emergency Assist offers added safety: if the driver is unable to drive due to health reasons, the assistant not only brakes within the system limits, but now also steers the driver into the far right lane, if rear traffic permits.

Engines and equipment
The Arteon is available in the three equipment lines Basis, Elegance and R-Line. There is a choice of three gasoline engines from 150 hp / 110 kW to 280 hp / 206 kW and three turbo diesel engines from 150 hp / 110 kW to 240 hp / 176 kW. The permanent all-wheel drive 4MOTION is combined with the seven-speed DSG transmission in the respective top engine versions. In terms of price, the new VW Arteon with the 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 150 hp / 110 kW (only available from November) starts at 44,300 Swiss francs.
