Jaguar F-Type with new turbo gasoline engine
JAGUAR The Jaguar F-TYPE receives a new 221 kW/300 hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine from the Ingenium family for the 2018 model year. This is the most powerful four-cylinder production engine in Jaguar's history to date. It celebrated its world premiere in mid-April at the New York International Auto Show and is now available to order. With this powerful entry-level model (from 63,600 Swiss francs), the [...]
It celebrated its world premiere in mid-April at the New York International Auto Show and is now available to order. With this powerful entry-level model (from 63,600 Swiss francs), the range for the two-seater sports car now includes six different engine options - from the new four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine and V6 variants with supercharger to the 322 km/h all-weather sports car F-TYPE SVR with a 5.0-liter V8 unit.
F-TYPE with its own unmistakable character
This is proven by the driving performance alone: Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is completed in 5.7 seconds; the top speed is stated at 249 km/h. The torque of 400 Nm is available from 1500 rpm. The torque of 400 Nm is already available from 1500 rpm of the crankshaft. Together with the sporty eight-speed automatic transmission, this ensures spontaneous responses to gas pedal inputs across the entire rev range.
Consumption significantly reduced
Compared with the 250 kW/340 hp F-TYPE V6 supercharged model, fuel consumption is reduced by over 16 percent, according to the manufacturer; in parallel, combined CO2 emissions in the European NEDC cycle are reduced to 163 g/km. With the help of concentrated high-tech, Jaguar has succeeded in coaxing maximum power out of the Ingenium engine while at the same time achieving maximum efficiency. The electrohydraulic valve train integrated into the cylinder head plays a key role in this. Using control algorithms developed and patented by Jaguar itself, it is possible to control the stroke of the intake valves variably across the entire rev range. This means there is always more than enough power available - with reduced consumption and emissions in return.
No loss of quality
The introduction of a four-cylinder engine means no diminution of the F-TYPE's acoustic qualities. Jaguar made no compromises here either and already equips all entry-level models with a meticulously tuned active sports exhaust system. R-Dynamic variants feature a button on the center console to manually control the flaps in the exhaust tract for an even more intense driving experience. Slightly modified bumpers and full LED headlights add even more power to F-TYPE's award-winning design for the 2018 model year.
Design revised and differentiated
The designers also used slightly different details to create greater differentiation between the individual models in the range. At the rear, a single exhaust tailpipe distinguishes the four-cylinder model from the V6 and V8 models. A Jaguar F-TYPE with a six-cylinder can be identified by a twin-tailpipe system emerging from the center, while the F-TYPE R and SVR derivatives feature four-pipe systems, each with two exhaust tips on the outside. The latest addition to the range also features 18-inch alloy wheels ex factory to improve agility and ride comfort.
Driver assistance systems as standard
The current 2018 model year F-TYPE offers an increased number of driver assistance systems - many of them controlled via a stereo camera. The new four-cylinder F-TYPE shares dynamic DNA with the V6 and V8 models. Thanks to the Ingenium engine and retuned chassis, it is the lightest and most agile member of the range.
