The car with the coveted chassis number 001 was purchased by Rick Hendrick, owner of the NASCAR team Hendrick Motorsports. Every dollar of the sale price went to the two children's charities Paediatric Brain Tumour Foundation (North Carolina) and Camp Southern Ground (Georgia). Bidding for the car surpassed the $1 million mark reached in January at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2016 auction, achieving the highest total at the charity sale of a 001 car in the auction house's 45-year history.
In the new NSX, thanks to the hybrid sports drive system, the body and chassis respond to the driver's input in an exceptionally intuitive and immediate way. In Switzerland, the new NSX will be offered later this year. Its price has not yet been determined.
