Every year, the three-hour race in the Royal Park of Monza heralds the start of the European endurance racing season in Europe's most popular GT series. The highlight of the season is the 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium at the end of July. Since last year's marathon, Emil Frey Racing has entered two of its blue big cats. Both run in the main PRO class (Professionals), in which practically only factory-supported teams are involved.

Monza in front of a Jaguar: The Swiss Jaguar was on its way to a top 10 result until the tire puncture.

Monza has not been a good place for the Safenwil-based team so far. The team led by Lorenz Frey wants to finally put an end to this run of bad luck. "Last year, a puncture just before the finish cost us a good result, and we've never been satisfied here before either," sighs the team boss. When Frey himself is at the wheel, as is the case this weekend, Technical Director Jürg Flach is in charge of operations.

"Monza would be a track that would suit us in terms of performance. We have prepared intensively since the last race and are in a good position. We have improved many components in the team and have a strong overall package. I'm really looking forward to the start of the season and I'm excited to see where we end up," says Frey.

They have formed the number 14 team since 2016: Albert Costa, Lorenz Frey and Stéphane Ortelli.

The Emil Frey GT3 Jaguar with starting number 14 will be driven by the trio of Albert Costa Balboa (Spain), Stéphane Ortelli (Monaco) and Lorenz Frey, who were newly formed last year.

The sister car with starting number 114, which provided the first leading laps for the smallest manufacturer team in the Blancpain GT Series at Spa last year, will continue to be entrusted to Jonathan Hirschi from Neuchâtel, Christian Klien from Vorarlberg, who lives in Diepoldsau, and newcomer Marco Seefried (D).

Preparation for the first training session in Monza: The second big cat from Safenwil with starting number 114 will now also be used throughout the season.

The event begins on Saturday, April 22nd, with free practice from 10:45 am. Qualifying will take place on Sunday at 09:50. The 3-hour race will start at 14:45. All information and the live stream can be found on the Blancpain GT Series website.

Ready for the first race: the two Swiss Jaguars are running in the premier class of the PRO teams. If you want to take a look behind the scenes, the VIP package from Emil Frey Racing is ideal.
